Watts, CA – Verbum Dei Jesuit High School is excited to announce Darius Spates '12 as our new Athletic Director. A proud Verb alum, Darius returns to the athletic department after spending the last three years successfully building connections with donors, supporters, and corporate partners as an Associate Director on our Mission Advancement team.

Darius brings nearly ten years of combined experience in sports, coaching, and athletic training. After graduating from Verb, he went on to play collegiate basketball on scholarship at Holy Names University in Oakland. Following his college playing career, Darius gained valuable experience at Shoot 360, an elite basketball training facility, where he worked closely with professional athletes and top-tier sports teams.

Known for his approachable style and passion for mentoring young athletes, Darius easily connects with students, coaches, administrators, and the broader community. His versatility and leadership skills make him a natural fit for guiding Verb’s athletic programs into an exciting new chapter.
